to announce our new community website!!!
www.thornrnblade.org The website
is awesome!! Check it out.
Also, we would like to start collecting

is going on in the neighborhood. Email addresses will be used for
this purpose only and not shared with anyone else. Want to sign

Neighborhood
Block Party:
The neighborhood cook out was a huge success!! The weather was great!!
The food was great!! Most importantly the Thornblade residents are
great!! An afternoon sitting around getting to know our neighbors
was a breath of fresh air. We had new home buyers attend and they
hadn’t even moved in yet! All three phases of Thornblade had
representation!! If you missed it last month, put it on your calendar
for September 2007 and visit www.thornblade.org
frequently to keep up to date on news you can use. Sign ups will
be posted on the web site for your convenience.
Photos of the Block Party are available
here!
Fall Lawn Care:
It is time to get your yard in shape!! If you don’t have time
to aerate, seed and fertilize, let New Natures Landscapes do it
for you!! They currently service Thornblade and will give us a price
break on this service. The more participants, the bigger the price
breaks. Please contact New Natures Landscapes at 382-7086 to schedule
your fall maintenance today. Be sure to mention you are a Thornblade
resident.
It’s
rotting already!!
The mailbox posts and paper holders are looking so bad that Mother
Nature decided to take action by way of lightening bolt to two mailboxes
in our neighborhood. Yes, the boxes and paper holders were struck
with such force they flew right off the post. Don’t let this
happen to you! We do have a skilled mailbox repair man in the neighborhood
who fixed them right away. If you are not the fixer upper type,
you can do what our neighbor at 4800 Pine Glen Ct. did. They consulted
with the HOA board members and received approval for and purchased
a new post and paper holder at mailboxes.com. The post and paper
holder are aluminum, powder coated finish in white. The model #
is 4825 for the post, and 4815 for the paper holder. It is recommended
you replace the mailbox at the same time from the same company so
you won’t have to retro fit the mailbox. If you would like
more information, please contact one of the board members via www.thornblade.org
or call Priestley Management at 379-5007
Reminders:
Thornblade is composed of four cul-de-sacs which are magnets for
children to play in. Drivers, please be mindful of your speed, even
if the speed limit is 25, it doesn’t mean it is safe to drive
that fast in our neighborhood.
Parents, please be mindful of your children and teach them to get
to a curb and stay still when a car is coming so the driver can
pass without risking vehicular homicide.
Per our HOA Rules and Regulations, please ensure your vehicles are
parked in your driveway. Commercial vehicles must be parked in your
garage. Trash cans should not be placed on the curb earlier than
7 PM the night before pick-up and off the curb no later than 7 PM
the day of pick-up (Rule of 7- also city ordinance).
Trash or
Treasure?
Thornblade HOA hosted one “community” yard sale this
year sponsored by Prudential Carolina’s Realty. Prudential
Realtor Marzena Hyman coordinated the sale by running the newspaper
ad and distributing flyers to the neighborhood. The participation
rate increased this time around which resulted in a successful community
yard sale! In 2007 we will have at least one community yard sale
and the proposed dates will be available at the annual HOA meeting
in the spring for you to vote on. In order for this to be successful
we need at least 10 homes participating. Community yard sales generally
have more “traffic” since people can go to many homes
in one neighborhood in search of treasure! As always, you are welcome
to host your own yard sale at any time.
You are building
what?
If you plan to make improvements to your property or alter the exterior
of your home, please submit a request to Priestly Management or
a member of the board and it will be given to a committee member
for review. We appreciate your cooperation. For easy access to the
request forms, visit www.thornblade.org
Dog Notes…
Please comply with the city of Greensboro’s leash law. Thanks
to the responsible pet owners who pick up after their animals. Please
ensure your pet is using a common area to eliminate on when walking
them and not your neighbor’s lawn or mailbox post!
Please visit http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/Residents/complaints.htm
(Site also covers topics such as garbage collection, loud music,
parking/speeding in neighborhoods etc.)
Wanted:
Thornblade’s new website has pages for its residents to advertise
their businesses and services as
well as make any announcements (birthday,
anniversary, accomplishment) that they'd like the rest of the residents
to know about. If you would like to post your business information,
services, or announcement, please contact the webmaster
via the Thornblade website. Listings are free, but they are limited
to Thornblade residents.
Did you notice?
The new “No Outlet” sign at the front entrance of phase
one?
Community
Watch
This is our community and we as residents are the best “eyes”
and “ears” to watch over the neighborhood and our neighbors.
In the past several weeks two attempts have been made to break into
storage buildings – one successful and one not. The Greensboro
Police Department has a Community Watch Program. You’ve probably
seen the signs in other communities, which are placed at the entrances
by the city.
More information can be found here:
www.greensboro-nc.gov/Departments/Police/Citizens/communitywatch/
Note that as a small community our
CWP can be fairly simple, all we need is some coordination. If you
are interested in having a CWP for Thornblade, please go to www.thornblade.org
and e-mail the webmaster. Not only will this put you on our emailing
list, but we will have a better idea of how many residents want
to help protect our community and each other. After all, a CWP works
best with everyone being involved!
We hope you find this “News
you can use” useful!
In the spirit of community~
Thornblade Board of Directors.
